Capturing light in Upstate New York

About
I’m Shelanise — a photographer working across upstate New York. Backyards in Buffalo, underpasses in Utica, riversides in Rochester and church halls in between.
“My work is all about capturing families as they really are. Sessions are relaxed, never rushed, and there’s plenty of room for kids to be themselves. I’m drawn to natural light, genuine moments, and that perfect glow right before the sun goes down.”
The Statement
I pick up my camera because life moves fast, and the little moments are often the ones we wish we could hold onto a little longer.
A hand resting on a shoulder. A laugh that comes out of nowhere. The way your kid looks at you when they think you aren’t watching. The warm light at the end of the day.
Those are the moments I’m looking for.
For me, photography is about preserving how it actually felt to be there — not making everything perfect or overly posed. I want you to look back at your photos years from now and feel something familiar. To remember the people you were, the way you loved each other, and all the little things you might have otherwise forgotten.
That’s the heart behind Noon: honest photographs for the moments you never want to forget.

Collaborations — a note on pricing
Every once in a while, I’m looking to collaborate with people who have a creative vision, unique story, or idea I’d love to bring to life.
These are reduced-rate or no-fee collaborative sessions offered in exchange for image usage rights. So there’s no confusion, here is exactly how the arrangement works — every partnership is confirmed in writing before we shoot.
Partnership spots are limited and offered at my discretion. If a collaboration isn’t the right fit, standard session rates still apply — and you can always request a quote.

I'm based in Western New York and shoot across upstate — Buffalo, Rochester, Utica and everywhere in between.
Yes. For sessions outside my usual radius, travel amenities like gas and tolls are covered by the client.
At least 2–4 months in advance, depending on the type of shoot. Weddings and larger events fill up first.
It depends on your package — see Session Packages for the image count included with each one.
Session Packages →Roughly two weeks, depending on how many images you purchased.
Absolutely. We'll work with whatever you're comfortable with — and I'll gently push the boundaries to get the best shot possible.
We'll talk through outfits, colors and layers together during your planning call.
It depends on the location. Let me know well in advance so I can ask the venue — and for outdoor shoots, I don't see why not.
Of course, as long as we discuss it ahead of time so I can plan the session around it.
Choose your session in Session Packages, then send the booking form with your date, time and details. I'll confirm by email.
Session Packages →A non-refundable 25% retainer holds your date and goes toward your total. You may move your session once for free, as long as you let me know at least 7 days ahead and a new date is available. If you reschedule with less than 7 days' notice — or need to move the date a second time — a new 25% retainer is required. If you cancel, the retainer is not returned. Bad weather is the exception: outdoor sessions are always rescheduled at no cost.
Still wondering about something? Send it over in the booking form and I'll answer personally.
